So, I've been wanting a Lucky Cat statue for a really long time, but I've been very picky about them. I didn't want one that was too cartoon-y, or one that was made of plastic, or one with a sloppy paint job. And it ended up taking me like three years to finally find one I liked. But here he is--I love him!!!

what is lucky cat?
It's Maneki Neko in Japanese. You've probably seen them in Asian restaurants or stores. Here's the wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maneki_Neko
Super cute!! Do you have antennae in the second photo? :)
We have one of these hanging in our backyard now. I wouldn't have known what it was if not for your blog. Way to educate me!
Ha--I TOTALLY have antennae in the second photo--that's my favorite part!
And Laura, you guys have one in your back yard? How fun! Glad to have educated you--it certainly doesn't happen often on this blog! :)
Well I think they are ugly but thats just a matter of taste. I think I'd go for the gnome as a pagan idol to good luck, but the cat is welcome in our back yard for now.
YOURS might be ugly, but MINE is very, very cute! But yeah, there are indeed a lot of ugly ones out there. Which is why it took me three years to find one I like!
