Salads

I've been making a lot of salads lately. In case you didn't know it, salad is pretty much my favorite food. Anyway, here are a couple that I've thrown together recently:

Asian Salad

This was an Asian salad. It had oranges and peanut sauce and and walnuts and was really, really good.

Fig Salad

I just now finished eating this one. We have a fig tree in our yard and I've been trying to figure out what on earth to do with all the figs. This was an excellent idea, if I do say so myself! I only wished I had some pine nuts and goat cheese to add to the mix! Maybe next time...

Both of those salads look beautiful. Lucky you, having a fig tree in your backyard. Have you thought about making dried figs or fig marmalade?

No, but those are great ideas--I'll definitely have to look up how to do that! That tree produces SO MANY FIGS! It bears fruit twice each year--once in early summer and once closer to fall--so we never seem able to eat them all, and most of the people we know seem to be somewhat hesitant about figs for some reason (maybe because fig newtons have given them a bad name?), so no help there! I've been trying to look up recipes as well, because I hate to let them go to waste (especially when they're charging $9.99 a pound for them at Central Market!).
